Tidal Training First Aid Courses

First aid is defined as the help given to a sick or injured person until full medical treatment is available. The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 require an employer to provide suitable first aid cover in the workplace. Equally importantly, prompt attention and treatment can define the course of recovery for the casualty.

Our Qualsafe Awards Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF) training courses satisfy the need for staff working in a higher risk environment such as businesses operating in sectors such as distribution to manufacturing and a diverse range of outdoor commercial activities. Potential risks must be identified and mitigated through a workplace risk assessment as outlined by the HSE.

The training course content includes all topics covered in QA L3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF) on day one. The further 2 days cover a broader range of accident, injuries and emergencies to give enhanced understanding and skills. Specific topics include catastrophic bleeding (which is also an optional extra for the content on our Emergency First Aid at Work training courses), circulation, fractures, secondary surveys, trauma, spinal and other serious injuries.

Course content includes, and is not limited to:
• Responsibilities of the first aider
• Primary survey
• Recovery position
• Resuscitation
• Choking
• Shock
• Bleeding and minor injuries
• Secondary survey
• Major injuries
• Anaphylactic shock
• Major illnesses
• Incident management
• Head injuries
• Burns
• Unconscious casualty management
• Bones, joins and muscle injuries
• Poisons
• Eye injuries

Remember – ALWAYS wear gloves when dealing with bleeding.

“Thank you so much for the invite to last Wednesdays course. As I explained to the facilitator and as per my feedback comments, I thought the session was extremely informative, absolutely essential and most of all, fun! The chap who ran the day was superb, explained everything really well and I have left feeling so much more knowledgeable and confident to deal with serious situations. I now feel well equipped to talk to people about heart attacks as I know have a better understanding and more confidence.”

Chris Barry | EFAW 19th July 2017.

Many thanks for an enjoyable and informative Emergency First Aid at Work course yesterday; David did a great job in delivering the course, which Tidal organised really well. It certainly refreshed a lot of what I had forgotten over the past 20 years (!) and I feel more knowledgeable and confident that I’ll now be able to do my best in an emergency situation. I’m sure the rest of the Porge team will find the course useful over the next few months.
