This course is designed to provide delegates with the skills, knowledge and confidence to respond to a range of accidents and first aid emergencies they could encounter in the workplace; and enable them to safely use an automated external defibrillator and perform CPR. This course is assessed through a multiple choice question paper, practical observations and verbal questioning. Successful completion results in a Level 2 certificate valid for 3 years.

  • Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally.
  • Be able to manage an unresponsive casualty who not is breathing normally
  • Know how to safely use an automated external defibrillator
  • Be able to safely use an automated external defibrillator.

Additional topics can be delivered on request although delivery time may need to be extended.

This qualification is for those that require additional training in basic life support and management of anaphylaxis. Many attendees are those working in environments that support children that may be at risk of severe allergic reactions, for example those working in nurseries and other early years settings.

Basic Life Support

Basic Life Support teaches the core elements of Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and an introduction to AED (Defibrillators). The course is suitable and advisable for everyone, including doctors, nurses and members of the public.

Subject matter includes, and is not limited to:

  • Understand the role of the first aider
  • How to act in an emergency
  • Dealing with an unconscious casualty
  • The recovery position
  • Dealing with a choking casualty
  • Valid for 1 year
  • Certificate included
